Chethams

The oldest free lending library in the country, a seat of learning and excellence, now an elite music school. Once described as “a cage of uncleaned birds a synagogue of Satan”, it was the home of the Earls of Derby, Norman Barons, and Parliamentarians. Come on a tour of one of Manchester’s most precious and influential buildings. See where Engels and Marx worked out their revolutionary vision of the world, and find where Dr. Dee mustered up the devils foot.
